Victory for Dutch House

Greenwich Council has turned down McDonald’s plans to turn the Dutch House into a 24 hour drive-through takeaway.

Speaking after the Council had announced its decision, Eltham MP Clive Efford congratulated the local community on their campaign. “Pubs are part of our heritage. Local people have shown in this campaign that the Dutch House is part of their community.

But he warned that the battle for the pub was not yet over. “We must now take steps to protect this pub—and others—from this type of threat in the future.”

That is why I am  asking residents  to email to me to ask  for the pub to  be listed as an “asset of community value”.

We must also work with the local authority to apply Article 4 Directions .  This will help us defend the Dutch House if the developers try again.

This is a major victory but we are not out of the woods yet.
