A strong voice for Eltham and Plumstead

Biography

Clive Efford

Clive has been married to Jill for 24 years. They live in Eltham with their three daughters. Jill is a teacher in a Greenwich primary school.

Clive was elected as the MP for the Eltham constituency in 1997. Since 2001 he has been a member of the influential parliamentary Transport Select Committee.

Clive also served as a councillor for the old Eltham Well Hall ward from 1986 until 1998. As a councillor Clive was involved in many decisions that have made a lasting difference to the community.

He introduced the community alarm scheme which has saved the lives of many elderly people.

He helped design the free parking scheme in Eltham High Street in response to complaints from small businesses that there were too few parking spaces to encourage people to stop and pop-in.

As chair of planning he steered through the decision to allow the Eletriq Café open in the face of considerable opposition. Who could imagine the High Street without the Eletriq Café now?

He has also been a governor of Henwick Primary School since 1986 - meaning he is now entering his 20th year!

Outside of poilitics Clive has worked as a youth worker, set up a job club for young people, owned his own business and been a licensed London taxi driver.
