Back the Bill

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the Government prevented my bill moving forward. However, I will continue to fight to save our NHS. If you would like to register your support for a properly funded NHS and to keep updated on the campaign, please enter your details below.

I am delighted that my Bill to halt the privatisation of our health service passed its second reading in Parliament by 241 to 18. It is astonishing that the Tories could only muster a handful of MPs to support their disastrous 2012 Act which forces competition in the NHS.

The Labour Party created the NHS and my Bill will protect it from competition from private companies, to exempt it from any Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement and to ensure that we prioritise patients not profit.

But our fight isn't over.  I have written to William Hague to demand that the Government take the Bill straight to Committee and do not use delay tactics to try to stall its passage through Parliament.

We have seen the impact that the Government’s privatisation agenda has had on our NHS – longer waiting times, fewer frontline staff and millions being spent on accountants and lawyers rather than patients - and the Liberal Democrats have gone along with it.

It is simple; we will not stand for this and my Bill just signals the start. A Labour Government would repeal the toxic Health and Social Care Act and ensure that we put patients back where they belong – at the heart of our NHS.

We still need your help to keep the pressure on the Government.  Please register your support for Clive's demands that the Government respect the will of Parliament and not delay its passage through Parliament.

I support clive efford nhs bill. As we know there is time for Every thing. Every one need nhs now or in future. Both in pain, in time for sickness to go hospital and restore your health or in joy, time to give birth.

Most of us are involve in heath care professionals know that nhs is our source of income to help our families and without it may be we will be jobless.

Nhs is like our bodies or like a house where we have shelter. Every body knows what good for the body and how to maintain it . Every body spent money and time to clean up your house and environment as we do every day. SO NHS NEEDS THAT EVERY DAY IN OUR LIVES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR FUTURE GENERATION THAT THEY MAY FOLLOW OUR FOOTSTEPS.

The surreptitious way in which the current government is trying to introduce an American style system, is of course completely at odds with the original concept of the NHS. I think most people are aware that there are major problems to be addressed, and that there is presently an enormous strain on the resources at our disposal.

In my opinion the answer is not to introduce health care for those who can afford to pay for it, whilst lining the pockets of people with vested interests in the commercialisation of everything, especially public assets and infrastructure.

It is quite frankly disgraceful.

Enough said I think. My full support to you.

Best wishes.

Jeff Banks.

I welcome Clive Efford’s Bill, however Milliband has made it clear the same unnecessary austerity measures will continue if labour win the next election. Over 120 billion of tax is evaded/avoided by the rich and multinational companies, yet most of us are expected to pay for the greed of bankers who caused this social and economic catastrophe in the first place. At present, Milliband offers no hope for the majority in this country and has failed to support workers in struggles as a result of the ConDems hated policies. If Labour campaigned on an anti cuts programme, this would offer hope and receive more votes.
