Clive brings residents and cinema operators together

cinema_meeting.jpgIt was standing-room-only at Clive’s meeting last night for local residents to hear about the plans for the new cinema opening in Eltham High Street next year.

Clive had called the meeting after some people were concerned about an application made by the cinema operators Vue last year for late night opening.  Clive asked Vue to withdraw that application so that it could properly consult local residents.   To their credit, Vue did that and then accepted Clive’s invitation to come to last night’s meeting.

Speaking after the meeting Clive said: “Vue were able to hear first-hand the concerns that local people have and residents were able to hear more about Vue’s plans.  This is the beginning of the process and Vue have promised to go away and look at ways they can adapt their plans to take into account resident’s views.”

“The cinema is a welcome and exciting addition to the High Street but the operators must take into account the views of local people.  I will certainly continue to work with Vue and local residents to get a successful outcome for all concerned.”
