Clive Efford - A Strong Voice for Eltham and Plumstead

extracarriages

southeastern_trains.jpgOvercrowding on our trains is now routine.  I have been demanding that the government help tackle this problem by allowing Southeastern to buy the surplus rolling stock from Thameslink which will become available when the improvements at London Bridge are completed in 2017.

I would very much welcome more train carriages on peak time trains on all Southeastern lines. With numbers travelling on the line set to increase they need to add extra space to their train services. People are already fed up of paying a fortune for their omnishambles of a service and to then stand in cramped conditions.

Getting to work on Southeastern trains can often be the most stressful part of my working day.

More carriages please, and let’s re-nationalise the railways too.
