help the bees

bee.jpgThe Government has lifted the EU ban on neonicotinoid pesticides, ignoring scientific research which has linked the pesticides to huge losses in the UK's bee population.

By lifting the ban, the government is caving in to short-term commercial pressures from the NFU and pesticide manufacturers at the expense of the bee population in the UK and therefore the future of British farming.

Sign here to demand that the Government protect our bees by reinstating the ban immediately.

No U turn! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9acgwtuFzQ

This is what happens to bees – death by neonicotinoid poisoning. Are chemical company profits so precious that we accept wholesale destruction of a species? What are the chances of bees surviving for future generations if we treat them with such utter contempt today? Life becomes valueless when there is a quick profit to be made / palm oil is yet another example of destruction of nature for profit.

Thanks for your email and for organising this petition Clive. I’m so pleased that as my MP you are active in the campaign to protect bees. With so much else going on in the world this issue could seem trivial and marginal while in fact it’s vital to address it now for the sake of the whole ecosystem and for human survival. Thanks again for taking it seriously.

Best wishes

Bees are the forgotten workers that pollenate so many of our nation’s food crops and they desperately need us and our elected officials to stand up and speak out for their rights to exist. Humans have interacted with bees for 1000’s of years and we have a moral duty to ensure that the short term profits and interests of chemical companies are not placed in front of protecting the well being of bees and bee colonies so they are there to pollenate the plants and food crops planted by future generations. A government U turn on neonicotinoid insecticides today in the face of scientific evidence supporting a ban on said chemicals will be catastrophic for bees going forward.
