Clive Efford - A Strong Voice for Eltham and Plumstead

sadiq_and_clive.jpgChris Grayling, the Conservative minister for transport, has called for the train services from Eltham to Charing Cross and Victoria to be cut.  Under his Department's proposals trains on the Bexleyheath line will only run to Cannon Street.

They claim that  running to trains to several destinations "introduces operational complexity, requiring trains to cross complex and busy junctions. This is a major contributor to delays, and makes it much harder to recover the service when things go wrong.”  The Government's answer to this problem is simple: cut the services, ignoring the terrible impact this will have on local commuters and the whole community.  This unacceptable.

These proposals are shocking. We are already bypassed by every underground development. Without our rail services to Victoria and Charing Cross we may as well not live in the wonderful London capital.

Disgraceful to cut trains to Charing X and Victoria on the Bexleyheath line. It would cause so much inconvenience to travellers at all times of the day and also cause no end of congestion at Lewisham with people changing trains from platform 3 to platform 1 at a station poorly designed for such cross platform connections.

We need a railway service that serves the community not the timetable planners

This will have a terrible affect on SE London commuters and will impact heavily on Blackheath station as we will all have to walk there to get a Charing Cross train instead of getting on at Kidbrooke.

I strongly object to a proposal that will make my (and thousands of others) travel to and from Victoria and the West End via Charing Cross much more inconvenient and time consuming.
