Clive Efford - A Strong Voice for Eltham and Plumstead

sadiq_and_clive.jpgChris Grayling, the Conservative minister for transport, has called for the train services from Eltham to Charing Cross and Victoria to be cut.  Under his Department's proposals trains on the Bexleyheath line will only run to Cannon Street.

They claim that  running to trains to several destinations "introduces operational complexity, requiring trains to cross complex and busy junctions. This is a major contributor to delays, and makes it much harder to recover the service when things go wrong.”  The Government's answer to this problem is simple: cut the services, ignoring the terrible impact this will have on local commuters and the whole community.  This unacceptable.

We need a railway service that serves the community not the timetable planners

This particular railway line is already overflowing with passengers. Kidbrooke is not served very well as it is. Why cause extra strain at London Bridge with thousands of passengers having to change trains? This is NOT making passengers the first priority, which is what should happen.

This will have a terrible affect on SE London commuters and will impact heavily on Blackheath station as we will all have to walk there to get a Charing Cross train instead of getting on at Kidbrooke.

I strongly object to a proposal that will make my (and thousands of others) travel to and from Victoria and the West End via Charing Cross much more inconvenient and time consuming.
