Clive Efford - A Strong Voice for Eltham and Plumstead

railcuts

sadiq_and_clive.jpgChris Grayling, the Conservative minister for transport, has called for the train services from Eltham to Charing Cross and Victoria to be cut.  Under his Department's proposals trains on the Bexleyheath line will only run to Cannon Street.

They claim that  running to trains to several destinations "introduces operational complexity, requiring trains to cross complex and busy junctions. This is a major contributor to delays, and makes it much harder to recover the service when things go wrong.”  The Government's answer to this problem is simple: cut the services, ignoring the terrible impact this will have on local commuters and the whole community.  This unacceptable.

This is an absolute madness. The amount of people waiting for Charring cross and Victoria trains each time is a gathering, and you want to cut the service. Plain stupidity.

Over 21,000 people already signed a petition to stop plans to cut SouthEastern services to Charing Cross and Victoria. The government’s response was awful.

Our Kidbrooke Village Residents group have also reached out to Berkeley Homes expressing concerns as we believe we need their help in order to be heard. Berkeley Homes are advertising new homes on the basis of easy transport links to London, but SouthEastern have already stated that when the services are reduced, the trains will not run more frequently and will not have more cars as they are already at maximum capacity. It’s very troubling to think when the Kidbrooke Village development is finished, how exactly are we all going to get to/from work.

As if it isn’t hard enough to get to work as it is!

This is absolutely unacceptable!

We have expanding community at Kidbrooke, trains are very busy and are used by many workers who pay taxes. With this reduction on services it will be a complete disaster.

Absolutely mental idea!!!! Whatever cretin has come up with this one needs to be fired and replaced with someone who is committed to delivering customer service to those who have been let down time and time again, not just shitting on them at the first sign of actually having to put some thought and energy into putting things right and giving their loyal patrons support and value for money.

Can you please let people know just HOW you propose to halt this major disruption to our services. If you can halt this, you will have my ACTIVE backing.

Chris Grayling’s idea of cutting vital services to Charing Cross and Victoria will have a huge impact on the already struggling commuters- there are no real alternatives if you work in the west end/Victoria/need to get to west London via Waterloo and many people in this area rely on these links for their livelihood.

Just offering one link into Cannon Street will leave the service overstretched and add additional pressures to the tube at Cannon Street.

In this area of London we have no DLR or Tube so these train services are vital to our community. This is another example of Conservative out of touch policy proposals from an MP I expect has never hadn’t to endure the commutes of the residents in South East London!

Amazing… Because no service is better than a service that’s delayed every now and then.

The South of London is already poorly serviced by public transport when compared with North London. It is ludicrous to think this action has even crossed the minds of the government. These trains are filled several times a day and offer important transport links from South East London into the City.
