Clive speaks in support of safe standing

Clive has today spoken in Parliament to call on the Government to push ahead with their review of safe standing.

Speaking in the debate, Clive called on the Government to listen to fans - who overwhemingly support safe standing - and made the point that it would be safer for fans to stand in designated areas rather than standing in seated areas, as is currently the case.

This debate follows from Labour's announcment that it is backing the introduction of safe standing at football earlier this month.

Labour's Shadow Sports Minister, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, announced that the decision to introduce Safe Standing should be devolved down to clubs, fans and safety authorities.

Last year, Labour pledged that all sports should be inclusive for all - by giving fans and supporters the opportunity to have a greater say in how their clubs are run.

During the last few months, Labour has consulted with clubs, supporters’ clubs and trusts, safety authorities, and leagues to undertake a review of opinions around Safe Standing in football.
