Clive Efford MP

Clive Efford - A Strong Voice for Eltham and Plumstead

Save our NHS

Clive has called for plans to privatise our local NHS orthopedic services to be scrapped after a special meeting of Greenwich Council’s Health Scrutiny Committee halted the contract .

Clive is now demanding that the local health commissioners scrap the whole process:  “There is nothing that the commissioners can achieve to make services more efficient that cannot be achieved through partnerships with local NHS health providers. We do not need to go through this expensive and wasteful process.”

Please register your support for Clive's campaign against our local NHS services being privatised in this way.

Colin Sellick. Privatisation of public services are clearly not saving money nor delivering adequate services. If members of committees are being counted more than once to make a quorum & pass a vote then Mugsborough action is unfortunately still a common practice.

Thank you, Clive. The Tories never wanted an NHS and did all they could to obstruct it as the Second World War came to an end. “We won’t have any money for such a thing after six years of war expenditure”, they said. Attlee and Bevan proved them wrong. Despite bankruptcy, rationing and hardship the NHS was born. And in that first year, 1948, Bevan’s civil servants spent just 3% of their budget on administration, (“In Place of Fear” by Aneurin Bevan 1952). Contrast the cost of administration in the Tory marketised NHS now five times as high and the 35% admin costs of health in the U.S. whose system the Privateers want here.

I wholeheartedly agree with my MP that public money should be directed into the public service and not to private companies. We have seen our newly built local community hospital have wards close due to lack of funding. Outsourcing public services to private companies do not provide value for money and we need to save our NHS to mertvthe demands of oyr ageing public and continue to be the best in the world .

As a social worker in Oxleas NHS trust I see the damage of cuts and privatizations to the NHS everyday. Do not destroy the best healthcare system in the world. Not only will everyday folk lose out but also the most vulnerable in our society will suffer and be further marginalised.

Stop the greed to make private company owners richer and put that money back into the NHS.

It is disgraceful that our NHS isn’t being privatised in this way, and I am disappointed that this should be happening in Greenwich!

privatisation in various sectors has not proved effective for the public either financially or in service delivery .

I want to make clear that my signature on the petition and my wish to support the NHS against these wicked and double-talk cuts is not a party political thing. I am a member of no political party, nor do I wish to be.

The privatisation of any government infrastructure should be forbidden. Situations, compromise and fraud would not be as to satisfy any shareholders or any other beneficiaries. Bring it all back in house and we can start to make Britain ours again.
