The closing of The Source further exacerbates the isolation of the Horn Park community

Labour’s team in Horn Park is leading the campaign to re-open the Source medical centre in Sibthorpe Road, after it was closed in 2016 because of the Tory Government’s NHS cuts, despite dealing with over 5,000 patient visits a year.

Along with Eltham MP Clive Efford, the local councillors for Horn Park – Ian Hawking, Christine May and Mark James –  are demanding that the centre be re-opened.  Ian explains, “The Source was excellent value for money compared to the cost and delay of a visit to a GP or a visit to the local A&E”.  Christine added, “now people on Horn Park are being forced to wait weeks for an appointment with their GP and to travel long distances for vaccinations and minor injuries.” The Source was, says Mark, “a vital local service for parents with children and elderly and disabled people.”

Clive Efford believes that the Centre should be re-opened now “NHS services should be local and convenient for those who need them.  We campaigned against the closure in 2016 and now we are saying enough is enough – we need to re-open the Source now.”

Over the next two weeks Clive and the team are delivering a short survey to every door on the Horn Park Estate asking people support the campaign and to let them know how the closure of the Source has affected them and their families.

If you live in Horn Park, then please let us know what you think about the Source.  You can go this by answering a few short questions at www.cliveefford.org.uk/thesource

With your help we will do everything we can to reopen the Source and bring health services back to Horn Park.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.
