Clive has slammed the government for acting too late to protect thousands of sports fans from being ripped off and having to pay extortionate amounts for tickets to major sporting events.

The Government recently performed a dramatic U turn when it finally bowed to aLabour-backed campaign, led in the House of Commons by Clive Efford the Shadow Sports Minister and supported by the likes of Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, to give sports bodies the power to prevent tickets being resold at inflated prices on the secondary market.

However, the change came too late for many fans, as secondary-ticketing sites are already selling tickets for the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham at prices of up to £5,000.

“We offered to help the government a year ago to get legislation in place in time to avoid tickets for the Rugby World Cup being hoovered up in this way by organised gangs of touts who then rip off desperate genuine fans at inflated prices.” Said Clive

“Had the government listened to us they could have helped thousands of sports fans, including people buying tickets for the Ashes. I am delighted we have finally forced the government to change its mind.”
