Clive Efford MP
Clive has responded to Stewart explaining that Labour tabled amendments on ticket touting during the passage of the Consumer Rights Bill. Unfortunately, the Government rejected the measures which would have given event organisers the power to control the resale of tickets.
Clive’s response to Stewart Lee:
Dear Stewart,
I fully agree with you that fans should not be ripped off by ticket touts looking to make a quick profit.
This is why we tabled amendments to the Consumer Rights Bill to give event organisers control over the resale of tickets, the issue is still being discussed in the Lords.
I would be happy to meet with you to discuss this issue further.
Yours,
Clive

Note:
The Government were defeated in the Lords on a ticket touting amendment, but Government MPs voted against the amendment in the commons. The issue is still being discussed in the lords, details available here: http://www.cliveefford.org.uk/government_suffer_defeat_on_ticket_touting
