The club – who currently play in Dartford and have been looking for a base back in Greenwich – want to restore the club to its original sporting use.

The site is currently the subject of two planning applications, the one from Greenwich Borough FC and another from Linden Himes to build 136 houses on the site

The site has been left unused for many years and was the subject of an application back in 2007 for over a hundred homes to be built on the field.  The application, which was turned down by the Council, was the subject of an inquiry in 2007 by the Planning Inspector. Clive gave evidence stressing that allowing the site to be built on would set a terrible precedent for the remaining sports grounds in the local area which play such an important role in the Borough.   Although the Inspector allowed the application it was eventually turned down by the planning minster.

Greenwich Council planners have refused the application to build homes on the GAA field.  Clive spoke at the planning meeting joining local residents (pictured below) calling on the Council to reject the proposals.  The Council has yet to decide on the plans from Greenwich Football Club.
