Clive demanded that former Thameslink carriages be used to lengthen trains on the Southeastern services.  Clive says. “Thameslink is getting new rolling stock when new services start in 2017. The department of Transport must allow Southeastern to obtain the current trains to meet growing demand for spaces on our local services.”

Clive also demanded an explanation for the Government’s decision to remove Thameslink services without consulting people in south east London.  “This decision was taken by the the then minister in response to lobbying from southwest London, but we were never told that this change was even being considered and now we have had our train services taken away from us.  We do not have access to the London underground in this part of London so we rely heavily on rail services to go to central London.”

£52 million was spent refurbishing the platform at Blackfriars to take 12-car Thameslink trains from southeast London.  Instead they now take trains from Wimbledon which can only be a maximum of eight cars in length.  Clive adds, “This is a waste of taxpayers’ money and I am calling on people from southeast London to support my campaign to get the Thameslink trains back into southeast London.”
