sadiq_and_clive.jpgClive has condemned the Government’s official decision to cut all Victoria Line services on the Bexleyheath Line as “unacceptable”

“It is desperately unfair on passengers in south east London” says Clive.  “The Government has chosen to overlook the fact that commuters here depend on our railways because of the lack of other options such as the DLR or the London Underground.  This will affect thousands of passengers and in particularly the elderly and disabled, many of whom will be traveling to Kings Hospital who will have to somehow make their way to the other platform at Lewisham.”

“Passengers have had to endure years of disruption as London Bridge station has been rebuilt.  Now, after all the pain, they are being told that their services are being cut.”

The cut was confirmed by Tory transport minister Chris Grayling earlier this week and will come into force after the new rail franchise for South East is awarded next year.  The Government has chosen to ignore the finding of its own consultation earlier this year which showed that 82% of people strongly opposed the plans to cut the number of destinations for local trains.

Clive is demanding that the Government listen to the views of passengers and immediately stop these plans.  He has also called for the Government to honour its promise to award the new franchise to TfL so that we can put passengers before profit.
