Clive has given his support to sleep-in workers in the social care sector who are facing a back pay crisis which has arisen due to inconsistent Government guidance.

The Government had advised providers that they could pay sleep in workers a set fee, it was later revealed that this was not the case and a huge bill for back pay.

Clive is calling on the Government to solve the sleep-in pay crisis for the people who rely on care, the care workers and care providers who are being asked to find the additional funds to cover the back pay.

Speaking after the event, Clive said: “This crisis has yet to be resolved and needs immediate attention. Many providers are facing a huge liability which could strip them of resources for vital support services offered by charity providers or render them susceptible to closure, through no fault of their own. The Government should take responsibility for their mistake and fund all sleep-in back pay.”
