sadiq_and_clive.jpgChris Grayling, the Conservative minister for transport, has called for the train services from Eltham to Charing Cross and Victoria to be cut.  Under his Department’s proposals trains on the Bexleyheath line will only run to Cannon Street.
The Government claims that running trains to several destinations “introduces operational complexity, requiring trains to cross complex and busy junctions. This is a major contributor to delays, and makes it much harder to recover the service when things go wrong.”  Their answer to this problem is simple: cut the services.

Clive is demanding that these proposals be rejected outright.  “Passengers on our local trains have suffered years of almost daily cancellations and late running services partly caused by the regeneration of London Bridge.  Now with that project finally nearing its end, the Government has announced that passengers will see massive cuts to their services.  Commuters have undergone the pain for no perceivable gain” he said.

“This part of South East London relies more than any other on our train services.  We have no underground stations or any DLR service.  It is simply unacceptable for the Government to propose plans that will cause so much disruption to our local community.”
