Clive today took park in the ‘trading places’ programme run by the First Step Trust (FST). FST is a registered charity providing access to work experience and salaried employment for people with mental health conditions and other disadvantages. FST runs a number of social enterprises that provide work experience, on the job training and salaried employment to some of the most vulnerable and socially excluded members of our community.

The ‘Trading Places’ programme is designed to allow  the FST workforce to meet people from various backgrounds including senior executives in the NHS, Care Quality Commission, large corporations, businesses of all sizes and prominent figures. It also allows these people to see the work the trust is doing on the ground to give those who’s lives have been
impacted by mental health conditions or other disadvantages a chance to fulfill their potential.

During Clive’s stint he was tasked with servicing customer cars at the FST SMaRT garage in Woolwich. Speaking afterwards, Clive said:

“I really enjoyed my time taking part in trading places. The team were extremely knowledge and welcoming – providing a quality and professional service. It is clear that the First Steps Trust is a great asset to our community – providing opportunities for those that would otherwise face barriers to work.”
