Clive backs postal workers

After the government started the privatisation of Royal Mail in 2013 the CWU reached a landmark agreement with Royal Mail restricting what it could do in private ownership, introducing legal protections for staff terms and conditions, preventing the break-up of the company and committing to grow and sustain the 6 day universal service.

Under new management, Royal Mail is turning its back on these agreements and appears determined to adopt a low-cost insecure employment model, move away from the 6 day universal service and break up and sell-off parts of the company in a bid to cut costs and maximise short-term profits. The dispute has its roots in the failed Tory – Lib Dem privatisation.

Clive Efford is backing our postal workers in their fight to save Royal Mail from being dismantled and sold off piecemeal to private companies. Posties are part of our community let’s get behind them.
