After months of disastrous dealings through the COVID-19 crisis, the Government have finally listened to The Labour Party and accepted that local authorities are best equipped to handle localised restrictions and track and trace systems.
The new three-tiered system means Councils will be able to implement extra measures which go further than those suggested by the Government, but they are currently too underfunded to do so.
Yesterday, I asked the Prime Minister if he will finally deliver on his Government’s promise to provide our local authorities with the funding they need to carry out effective track and tracing.
